Scheuch Stadtlauf Ried - The Ried festival that celebrates runnning and more on a large scale
Motivated by the success of the previous year’s inaugural event, LAG-Genböck Haus Ried and Scheuch GmbH have once again joined forces to stage the running festival that hopes to be the highlight of the season. Sprinting from the starting blocks at 3 p.m. on Saturday, 23rd August 2014, the Scheuch Stadtlauf Ried will not only showcase a series of enthralling races, but will also have a whole programme of entertainment on offer.
The Stadtlauf Ried marks one of the high points in the town’s calendar of events, and last year’s races saw a huge starting line-up of 700 participants. Several top athletes from Austria and other countries alike, as well as a large number of amateur runners, are expected to take part this time round too.
“The Scheuch Stadtlauf Ried is a festival for anyone who wants to celebrate the ties between culture and sport. There will be all sorts of fringe events for people of all ages and walks of life, giving both runners and spectators the chance to experience not only the sport itself, but also a fantastic occasion”, said Christoph Regel, member of the organising committee at LAG-Genböck Haus Ried.

Scoring for company teams and groups
In the joint contest, aimed at amateur runners rather than those who run competitively or as part of a club, teams or groups must be made up of at least 2 men and 1 woman (entry fee: €13 per person up to close of registration at 4 p.m. on 22nd August, 2013; entries after this date will incur an additional charge of €5 per person). The route for both men and women covers 5 km and there are no age categories in this case. Teams are scored by adding up the finishing times of the two fastest men and the fastest woman in each company team or group.

Both the runners and the spectators will find the various races a thrilling experience and can look forward to seeing new personal bests being set, as they have before”, said Andreas Steinbacher, member of the organising committee at LAG-Genböck Haus Ried.
PROGRAMME OF ENTERTAINMENT
There will be fringe events at various points throughout the entire route, providing music, shows and a fun atmosphere. With an extensive range of entertainment on offer for children and families, both young and old are bound to find something to put a smile on their faces. Various live acts like the band SKYBIRDS and DJ WODA will be there to keep the atmosphere upbeat.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The first starting signal will be fired at 3 p.m. at Stelzhamerplatz. Anyone who would like to run is eligible to participate.
Participants must register online at www.rieder-stadtlauf.at by 4 p.m. on 22nd August 2014.
Starting numbers will be given out from 1 p.m. onwards at the Sparkasse on Rieder Marktplatz.
Late registrations can be made up to an hour before the race in question begins.
The entry fee is €7 for children and young people; for juniors and adults it is €15. There is no fee for children up to the age of 6. Entries made after the deadline (only available to juniors and adults),
will incur an additional fee of €5 to be paid on collection of the starting number.
Pentek timing Championchip technology will be used to record times. Children and young people will be given orange chips free of charge when they receive their starting numbers; these must be returned after the race. Participants in the main race who do not yet have their own chip will be given a green chip at a rental charge of €3 when they receive their start numbers. The time measuring equipment will only read runners’ own yellow chips and the orange and green chips handed out for the purposes of this event. Without these chips, times cannot be recorded.
The first three runners to cross the finish line will receive prizes in the form of ceramic trophies. Children and young people will receive cups, and there will also be prizes for the three largest groups to participate. The prizegiving ceremonies will take place at Marktplatz (at around 4:30 p.m. for children and young people, and from around 6:30 p.m. for all other categories).
Changing and shower facilities will be available in the Jahnturnhalle gymnasium. Refreshments will also be provided for runners at Hauptplatz (tea, isotonic drinks, water, soft drinks, muesli, bananas, energy bars, and so on.).
