LEO LUFTI technologycontest crowns a winner
Scheuch GmbH launched the Leo Lufti technology contest with a specific focus on young people and the aim of sparking their interest in technology early in life. This year’s participants were tasked with developing creative air purification concepts – and it was a class from Neue Mittelschule 2 in the town of Ried, Austria, that the jury decided had earned the top accolade, thanks to a series of computer games the pupils had developed themselves. The games – both designed and programmed by the class – feature Scheuch’s Leo Lufti mascot, and set players the task of kitting out as many factories as possible with filter equipment in order to help create cleaner air. The prize was a trip to the Ars Electronica Center in Linz. On the day of the awards ceremony, the pupils also spent the morning in Scheuch’s training workshops, where they had the opportunity to create their own game of skill using sheet metal – something which also gave them experience of handling this material for the first time.
