Dedusting plant for secondary metallurgy
Saarstahl AG, Völklingen (D)
With increased demands being placed on the quality of steel products, it is essential that existing secondary metallurgy systems (post-treatment of steel) adapt to accommodate as necessary. It is against this backdrop that Saarstahl AG is making plans to extend its secondary metallurgy facilities in its LD steel plant in Völklingen, Germany, whilst retaining existing systems – and is aiming to align itself with the latest emission reduction measures as part of this.
All processing steps, such as heating, alloying, vacuum treatment, and pouring temperature adjustment, will be housed in the new secondary metallurgy facilities. Scheuch’s scope of supply will include a dedusting plant covering everything from the extraction points to the chimney top .
- Air volume: 600,000 Nm³/h at 85°C
- Clean gas dust: 5 mg/Nm³
- Sound power level Lwa < 88 dB(A)
As a separator, the IMPULS filter will be expected to handle two different air flows, and for this reason a separation point for the lead-containing dust from the ASE system is to be set up in the filter chambers. The extracted and filtered air will then be channeld via a chimney. The plant is to be designed for outdoor installation and will be compatible with smelting work.
