OEC odour filter
Innovative, latest-generation odour filtration
Unpleasant odours present a major challenge to composting plant operators: If more than 10,000 tons of material is composted annually, the compost plant must be enclosed and have extraction systems ensuring that the odour levels in the environment and for local residents remain below 500 ouE/m³ (European odour units). Scheuch offers the solution to this with its unique OEC (Odour Emission Control) filter system.
50 % below the limit values:
The combined odour filter for large composting plants achieves values at least 50 % below the compulsory odour limit values. On average, the measurements were below 200 ouE/m³. Overall, the filter therefore offers a reliable way of meeting the legal guidelines.
How OEC works:
The moist exhaust air from the hot composting hall and the sludge hall is extracted through a biological filter. This biological filter cleans and removes humidity from the hot-air stream (which is at temperatures of 40–50 °C), and already removes a significant proportion of the odour. The fine filter that follows removes the dust and larger particles from the exhaust air. Finally, a fan moves the prepared air through the activated charcoal filter before it is discharged into the atmosphere via the stack. The extraction is also designed in such a way that no odours can escape from the halls to the outside. If a hall door is opened, the extraction capacity is automatically increased at that door by way of control valves.
